You are all invited to come and attend
the Religion Fair presentation taking place next Friday
the 16th from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the WIC social Hall.
Feel free to invite friends too. Our students have worked
very hard to be ready. You will be proud of them.
It is happening on Dec. 28th. Mrs.
Badry will lead this effort. She has provided her students
with take-home website links to be used for practice.
Help your child get a chance at winning and earning the
scholarship!
Students need to have clean and pressed clothes at all
times. No shabby or ripped clothes will be allowed.
Students not abiding by the uniform policy will be given
2 verbal warnings followed by a written note to parents.
Students not wearing proper uniforms will not
be allowed in the classroom.
Assr prayer is offered at 3:15. Park
your car and attend Jama'a, then pick up your child/ren
at 3:20.
Election Day is Dec. 16th. We are
sending 2 ballots for each family, one for the dad and
one for the mom. Please fill them out and bring them with
you on the 16th to the school office. You can drop them
off yourself so we can check your name off. You are welcome
to drop by the school from 7:30 to 5:00.

JAK for your great generosity. The
bins were filled with clothes for the last few days. Please
don’t stop sending items as we have a family of
10 who has just arrived and is in need of the bare minimum.
We are collecting money for classroom
libraries. We are hoping to increase each classroom by
100 books. We need $500 for each classroom. Please help
us make our students’ classrooms more enticing
and better equipped. We are watching to see which classroom
will collect the needed amount first.
As we are heading towards colder times,
please make sure your child is wearing appropriate attire
before leaving home. We want to be able to take students
outside. Please send them in boots, mittens, and hats.

From Raising Happy Kids by Hartley-Brewer
Which Form of Discipline Is Best at Producing Self-Discipline?
Children must have some experience of routines, but they
must not be dominated and taken over by these. They need
to have the consequences of their behavior made clear
to them, and to take responsibility for what they decide
to do. They need adult help in meeting long-tem commitments,
so they experience the pleasure of working toward and
achieving a goal that minimizes the experience of failure—stickability.
Finally, children must have an environment of mutual trust
and respect in which to develop their own appropriate
judgments, and be trusted and approved of for these. The
traditional model of strict discipline cannot provide
all these experiences; neither can the “soft”
options.
The winner, once again, is democratic discipline—offering
the right mix of rules, routines, guidance, support, commitment,
freedom and choice.
