I love
the Qur’an:
Our month theme is loving the Qur’an. In the morning
assembly, we have been discussing, favorite Surahs, benefits
of specific Surahs, and manners with dealing with the
Qur’an.
In addition, we are launching a Qur’an competition
this year to be held on May 30th. Students will be preparing
through memorization of a specified Surah, memorization
of the meanings of that Surah, and application of Tajweed
rulings for upper grades. More information will be sent
next week.
This initiative is to help our students understand the
great importance of Qur’an in our lives. It is not
enough for a Muslim to memorize few Surahs, rather the
Prophet taught us to memorize the Qur’an, understand
its meanings and their implications, and apply its teachings
in every aspect of our life. Help us prepare our
students to make the Qur’an the center of their
lives.

Spelling
Bee
If your child is a student in grade 1 to 7, he / she should
be practicing his spelling words. Spelling Bee school
event will be held on March 31st.
Open House
Our Open House will be held next Friday, March 7th from
4:00 to 7:00 PM. We are counting on you to invite
your friends to this event. Your effort in spreading
the word out can make a big difference.
Remember that with more students in the school, Alhuda
will have a more solid financial standing, which will
directly benefit your child.
So take the time to invite others and remember the $100
discount that goes to you for every family that enrolls
because of your referral.
Snow days
Because of the many times
we’ve had to cancel school days or parts of days,
we are planning to add some time in the calendar. Please
be aware that the first Thursday in March and May will
be a regular full day. In addition, we are adding 1 day
at the end of the year to include June 13th in the school
calendar.
So mark the changes on your calendar: March 6: Regular full day
May 1: Regular full day
June 13: Last day of school
Community Service
Sixth
and seventh grade students were thrilled with their community
service yesterday. One group helped collect sap from trees
while another cleaned out land next to a pond. The third
group was entrusted in making a large amount of pancake
mix. All students had good exposure to providing community
services and were able to demonstrate good Islamic manners
through their interactions with others.
We are
happy to announce that Aisha Yusaf Masood has joined our
school to teach art to upper elementary and middle school
students. Mrs. Masood brings with her much energy and
enthusiasm.
We are also in the process of hiring a new gym teacher
to replace Mrs. Pappas. We thank Mrs. Pappas for the great
work she did with our students.
